PHX to OKC This Evening

Well, Pireps show none most of the way and light around Oklahoma and the Texas panhandle. USA1 shows the same, so I will let you all know how it went later.

But I find flying out of PHX at this time of year in the evening can be bumpy, as can flying over New Mexico in the early evening due to convections from the hot desert floor and the mountainous terrain.

Come summer, I avoid flying into or out of PHX any time after 2pm and before 9pm. Monsoon storms pop up daily.

And forget the midwest! Anytime of year it pretty much sucks.

Flight was actually pretty good for a change, despite the massive and ominous system over the panhandle extending into Alabama.

It was smooth from take off right up until descent into the system, and even then it was light...although it was continuous from about FL380 down to the ground. The deck was low also...we didn't break out until about 500, and it was foggy on the ground.
